The Leukaemia & Myeloma Research UK was founded in 2015. One of the Trustee’s families experienced a family bereavement and established the charity to tackle cancer of the blood. Our vision is to be the leading UK blood cancer charity specialising in stem cell therapy. We will actively support stem cell research into blood cancers, raise awareness of stem cell therapies and will offer a free stem cell storage service for qualifying families, which we call Model Cell Biobank.
Stem Cell Therapies
Stem cell therapies are not as widely understood by the public as we would wish. It is vital to raise awareness so that parents and patients can make informed decisions to protect their future health. We work with a number of partners and recognised experts to help raise awareness of stem cell therapies. They kindly allow us to make links to their websites and information which can be accessed by clicking the button below.
The number of people suffering from blood cancer is increasing every year. Leading specialists in the field of blood cancer research are striving to develop treatments for this disease. Our charity’s vision is to participate in these efforts through support and investment in research. If you are a researcher and are interested in working with our charity in this area, we would like to hear from you to see if we can help.
FREE cord blood banking
We are proud to launch a brand new service on World Cord Blood Day, November 15, 2017. Model Cell Biobank is the UK’s first cord blood stem cell storage service which is provided entirely free of charge to parents who cannot otherwise afford it. This unique service will provide the opportunity for parents to store their baby’s cord blood for 25 years in case the child, or another member of the family, needs them in the future.
